Elysium Escapes was a mock travel site catering to high end clients. It was built by Ileana Luts, Stephan Needham and I. This was an integration project for my web developement class. As such, this project touches all aspects of a working web page from front to back.

The site was built using various technologies. Html was written using the twig template engine. For CSS styling, a mix approach included the bootstrap 5 library as well as my own custom style sheets. Some JavaScript was used to handle photo carousels, modals, pop up success/error messages, and AJAX handles some real time DB updates. PHP was handled using the Slim framework coupled with MeekroDB to streamline the Database handling and MySql/MariaDB was used to create the database itself.

User's can browse destinations, read travel stories from other customers and review their past orders. All of these items are populated dynamically from the database. Visitors can contact the site owners through a form on the contact us page, which will store their message in the DB. A user can register and log into an account with the site. If they forget their email, a password recovery link was sent to their email address. Finally, they can select a destination, select their desired dates for their trip, and the number of adults/children that will be traveling. Submitting this form sends a realtime request to the Booking.com api which will return a selction of high end resorts that match their criteria. The results are displayed in a series of modals and within each modal the user can browse photos that the api sent for the given hotel. When the user was ready, they may book a trip. To handle payment processing, the Stripe api was used. As this was a mock site, no actual transactions are permitted, so we use Stripe's provided test card numbers. Upon completion, the user was taken to an order summary page. At the same time, a confirmation summary was sent to the user's registered email address. The user can review their past trips from the user menu where they may also post their own travel story that will be published to the site blog.

ITems was a mock Employee management system built by Ileana Luts and I using Java Spring Boot, Java Spring Security, thymeleaf templating engine, Bootstrap 5 and MySql Locally/ PostgreSQL hosted on Heroku. We were given about a week to build an initial proof of concept for our Java/Programming III class. Being an EMS, anyone attempting to visit the app will be automatically redirected by Spring Boot Security to the login portal. Only current HR employees with the role-MANAGER can add new employees to the system. Upon onboarding, the new employee was sent an email with their initial log in credentials, inviting them to log in and update their profile. The link provided in the email will push them straight to the update page to ensure their first step will be to submit their personal info to HR.

Upon successful sign in, the employee was taken to the dashboard where they can view three cards: Employee Profile, HR requests, and Employee documents. After being clicked, these three cards expand to show more detailed information as well as buttons to change/submit new info to HR. For example, an HR request can be submitted from the dashboard requesting time off or location transfer. Once the transfer was submitted, the HR manager can view the request from the Admin dashboard and choose to approve or deny. The status of the request was displayed for the Employee to see in the HR request card dropdown

ReadWell was a mock A Social Cataloging website akin to GoodReads. It was built by Ileana Luts and I using React.js, Material-UI, Bootstrap 5, Express, Node.js, and Sequelize. The server/api was hosted on Heroku, the React app was hosted on Netlify, the MySql database hosted on AWS RDS, and the images are hosted on an AWS S3 bucket. We were given about a week to build an initial proof of concept for our React.JS/Web Programming II class. The Lending Circle was a mock exchange site supporting a circular economy. It was built by Ileana Luts, Phil-Jonathan Arceno and I. This was an integration project for my ASP.NET class. As such, this project touches all aspects of a working web page from front to back. The site was fully functional in a mock setting, with a path for "future ideas"

The site was built in C# using the ASP.NET Core framework and Razor pages. It uses an MsSql DB which was hosted on AWS - RDS. The site as a whole was hosted on AWS using elastic beanstalk and the images live in an S3 bucket. The pages was styled with a combination of custom CSS and Bootstrap5 classes.

The Lending Circle was a neighborhood/community lending system for neighbors to borrow/lend items they need from/to each other. In an economy that was trending more environmentally friendly, one way we could reduce overconsumption/waste would be to lend everyday items when they aren't in use. Instead of every house owning their own snow blowers, lawnmowers, Tool kits, camping gear, etc. The Lending Circle allows you to connect with neighbors and lend your stuff to people who have a need for your stuff while you aren't using it.

Game Garage was a weekend "Mini-Project" that I completed for my integration into labor market course. We were tasked to build a project combining some tech we have learned in unfamilar ways. Being an avid gamer, I chose to build a basic video game to explore the concepts that go into making a game work.

The game itself (Brick Breaker) was built purely with JavaScript

Game Garage was an arcade style site where users can play free, JavaScript based, video games. At the moment, they can choose to play the classic game - Brick Breaker. A score table, living on an RDS database, keeps track of player scores. Like a classic arcade game, users are prompted to enter their name to record their final score. If their score was in the top ten, it will be displayed on the Leaderboard.

Hello Velo was a mock bike rental site modeled after Montreal's Bixi service. It was my final integration project for my Full Stack Development course at John Abbot College. This site was co-authored by a team of 5 that includes myself, Kim Alizadeh, Bahar Jabarzadnouri, Kate Post and Aly Westwood

The Front End was built using React with a mixture of Bootstrap 5 and Material-UI for some styling. It features the Stripe service for subscription processing as well as MapBox for the station map. The react app was hosted on Netlify.

The Back End was built using Java Spring boot, hibernate, security with JWT. AWS RDS was used to host the MySql database, while the API was hosted on Heroku. The Stripe service was also featured in the back end to deal with subscription payments, invoice retrieval and promo/discount application.

Hello Velo was a fully featured simulation of Montreal's Bixi bike rental service. As there are no physical stations to check bikes from, this process is simulated through a process visible in the browser. Users can register with the service, subscribe using stripe's test card, browse stations on a map, choose a bike from a selected station, and return said bike to another station. If a station was low on bikes, a discount flag will show up on the station in the map indicating a discount rate if a bike was dropped off there. Likewise, if a station was nearly full, a discount flag will appear to incentive the user to borrow from that station. A user can see their rental history, report on defective bikes, download a copy of their invoice, change their user info, cancel their subscription and delete their account. In the event that a user ends their subscription early, a final invoice will be generated with any outstanding fees.

From the Admin side, in addition to standard CRUD functionality for all tables, there was also bespoke systems in place. These include: a promo system where discount promotions can be created using either dollar amounts or percentages. These promos can then be sent in bulk to selected users. There was also a fully featured maintenance system that automatically pulls bikes into the "warehouse" for tune ups and repairs. Customer equipment complaints can also be read an the respective bike can be moved into the warehouse from there. This flags the bike as out of service until the admin confirms on the maintenance page that the bike has been repaired. After this point, the bike was returned to the warehouse as active and can be rotated back into the system.
